Moving to Kenya
What Will We Be Doing?
Luke
Luke will continue in his role on the Global Leadership Team with SIL (Wycliffe’s key field partner to which most Wycliffe missionaries are assigned to serve in the field) as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer. He leads the global brand and communication strategy that helps SIL work wisely in a wide range of cultural, political, and faith environments—some of which require careful sensitivity. His work strengthens the clarity, cohesion, and trust that allow SIL teams to serve safely, effectively, and with greater impact around the world.
Noelle
Noelle will continue to support Luke in his role while caring for the girls, managing school routines, and keeping the home running. But more than anything, she’s looking forward to being “let loose” again—she thrives in spaces where she can build relationships, invest in people, and make room for God to move. She has a deep heart for relational ministry and discipleship and is excited to invest in the everyday relationships God brings across her path—neighbors, security guards, shop owners, and the moms she meets on the street. There are also opportunities for her to continue serving vulnerable youth, which has always been one of her greatest callings.
Girls
Meleia and Alaina will be attending a Christian school in Nairobi, where we’re excited for them to learn, grow, and build friendships. Both girls see themselves as part of our ministry—whether it was Meleia’s time in Papua New Guinea or the way they both cared so deeply for the children we fostered. We remind them often that they play an important role in what God has called our family to do. Kids have a way of opening doors adults could never open, and we’ve seen God use their joy, compassion, and presence in meaningful ways.
Why Kenya?
-
Geographically Central
Nairobi sits in a strategic time zone and location that places us closer to where the heart of remaining Bible translation work is happening, allowing for greater presence, responsiveness, and relationship.
-
Leadership and Team
Our Executive Director and a growing Nairobi-based team make Kenya a natural hub for this next season of ministry, providing closer collaboration and stronger connection to the global work taking place.
-
Ministry Opportunities
Nairobi offers meaningful opportunities for our entire family through relationships, church life, and partnering with other Nairobi-based organizations serving across the region.
-
Close to Our Hearts
Kenya has long held a special place in our hearts and ministry. It was here that God first began shaping our journey into missions, and returning now feels both deeply meaningful and full-circle.
